The History of Cannabis Day
Cannabis Day dates all the way back to 1977. It originated in Alberta and has since been celebrated across various places in Canada.
The Alberta Legalization of Cannabis Committee and the Canadian Association to Liberate Marijuana were the two activist groups that introduced this day. There’s no denying that their hard work was a massive contribution to cannabis finally becoming legal in the country by October 2018.
Before the pandemic, Cannabis Day was celebrated through various activities at Thornton Park. It’s where weed enthusiasts can always look forward to farmer’s markets with exciting goodies, live music, appearances from cannabis industry icons, and even firework displays.
